Welcome to My Health Insurance Guide, MSAA’s online information aimed at assisting the MS community with understanding the many details surrounding today’s health insurance options. My Health Insurance Guide covers a range of important topics, including:
- The Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its impact on both private insurance coverage and Medicare programs
- Non-Medicare insurance, which encompasses policies sold through the Marketplace, private and work-sponsored insurance, as well as Medicaid
- Medicare insurance programs, including original Medicare (Parts A and B), Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C), optional prescription drug coverage (Part D), and optional Medigap policies
Please feel free to explore the many sections of this guide, using the navigation at the top of each page. For instance, if you do not have health coverage or are looking into insurance alternatives, you may want to learn how to PLAN to select a coverage option. MSAA’s acronym PLAN refers to: Prepare, Look, Analyze, and Name. To read more about the history of insurance reform under the ACA and new changes and/or covered benefits, please see “What the ACA has changed.” You may also proceed directly to the sections below, to learn about your options for health insurance coverage and important terminology and questions.
Please note that if you have Medicare, by law, you may not purchase a Marketplace plan through a state or federal Marketplace.
